by Mooshai, 132 days agoIts time we started growing again.
If you want to help the guild grow, post out messages to the proper channels using something similar to this:
Grannys Hoarded Cookies (est 4/7/07) is recruiting. Adult, casual, social, light raiding. All classes/levels welcome. Apply at
http://grannyscookies.guildlaunch.com
Proper channels are guildrecruitment, and sometimes general in zones or even trade - but be sparing in using trade or general.
I use an addon called NazGuildRecruiter that automatically broadcasts that messages a maximum of once per X in each zone I'm in (counting all cities as the same and using guildrecruitment there). X being a number I can set which I usually put somewhere between 30 and 60.
by Mooshai, 132 days agoLooking for guildies who think they have what it takes to help the grow and improve. To that end I need people to fill specialized officer positions.
These are the roles I am seeking, now or in the future:
FILLED:
Guild Leader - Mooshai
Retro Night / Lowbie advancement - Blueplate
Bank management - Tanilu
General Officers - Muldreg (semi-raid), Grimmgor, Wahurg, Zulushaka, Spiritfury
NEEDED:
Recruitment Officer - ASAP
Raid Leaders - ASAP
Events Organizer
Web/News
Apply to me privately here, and be sure that
if you apply, you can actually devote time to this role. These roles are not for 'badges of distinction,' but jobs that we need to get done. Any guild member can apply.
The
Raid Leaders organize raids. This includes:
- Picking the raids and scheduling at times members can attend
- Making sure members trying to get raid ready can get there.
- Not sidelining lower geared members in favor of faster progression.
- Not using class/race bias in the slotting of tanks or healers.
- Ensuring members are given the chance to fufill the roles they desire to fill.
- Cajoling people into signing up for raids.
- Keeping recruitment informed of what is needed for better progression.
- Assisting in recruiting - but keeping in mind that recruits must come as casual adults first, never hardcore progression-raiders. We need to keep the social atmosphere up and the drama down.
- Ensuring fair loot distribution designed to progress the guild as a whole and all active participants.
The raid leader needs to be tracking member progress and hassling people who seem ready for something but are not vocal on their status. The purpose of this role is to keep activity and grouping high, across all levels of the guild.
The
Events Leader organizes social ideas on the calendar. This person does everything from trying to get people to use the calendar more, adding events just to see who we can get to sign up for them, and even creating ideas like a 'mailbox dance party' just to make us a visible guild. The events organizer should be making sure there are
at least three things on the calendar every week - more is better though. They should not schedule with an eye to what -they- intend to do, but with an eye towards targeting what they think different 'portions' of the guild population would need, want, and / or enjoy. That means they may be scheduling and recruiting for many events they themselves have no plan to attend.
The
Recruitment Officer goes out and tries to find new members, both through in-game and out-of-game methods. This means this person might have to do things like run PUGs to spot prospective recruits, spam trade / general / guild recruitment, spam forums, and so on. The plan is 'by any means necessary that still retains the distinct cookie culture.' So this person needs an eye for judging what methods will get us the right kind of people and what methods should be avoided. And they need to be -VERY ACTIVE- in recruiting. Set lofty goals, like trying to get us to 120+ members in a month, so that at least we can attain some decent fraction of that.
The
Lowbie Advancement Officer would organize events and other schemes to level our lowbie members as fast as possible, while also focusing on making the game fun for them to build guild loyalty. It has always been my belief that the health of the guild in the long term depends on making sure it is always friendly to very casual minded players, and to the new players. Which means we need to always be on the look out for people have just gotten into WoW who we can shape into the 'right kind of people' before the zerg guilds destroy them...

And we need to make it fun for them to stay with us even as the high level members go into raiding.
The
Bank management Officer (NEEDED) would control the bank inventory and funds. The job would be to keep the vault from getting too full, in particular too full of items nobody wants or needs. On the other hand this person would encourage guildies to donate useful items - hitting up the crafters to make things like bags and quest items, and hitting up people to bank vault unused motes and rep items. It would also be to keep the bank funds healthy enough for use, and to make the judgment call as to when it is time to buy new tabs. This person would also keep a rough eye out for anyone abusing their bank privileges, though I don't think we'll have a problem there anytime soon.
Eventually bank management will split in two and we'll need an officer whose job it is to hassle every member to keep the
Crafting Officer up-to-date on what they can craft, and to get them to craft items for guildies. The role would involve making sure there is never a guildie who needs something and a guildie who can make it who are not having a 'meeting of the minds' and getting it done. ;) This officer would also make sure guildies are not charging each other for crafting items.
The
Web/News Officer needs to make sure there is something to post in the news section of the website once a week. Probably a posting going out either Friday morning or Monday morning announcing what has happened over the last week and what we expect to happen over the coming week. I like Mondays for this kind of thing, but that's still an open issue. This officer would also try to encourage website usage as a way to build community - to include regular screenshot posting, off-topic chatter, linking interesting MMO and WoW articles, and so on.
